Backpack Securities listed a tokenized version of BlackRock Inc. common stock (NYSE: BLK) through Sunrise on Oct. 2, 2026, with trading on Raydium around the clock. Backpack Securities, rather than BlackRock, is the issuer. The BLK token is designed to be redeemable 1:1 for an underlying BlackRock share, transferable between wallets and usable in decentralized-finance applications, although existing announcements did not specify redemption procedures, minimum sizes or investor eligibility. The confirmed Solana mint is BLKKYfF41c6xRPrtX1rdYbxLE1xxEdZUnxQsB5hcZ8Nf. About 25 minutes after trading began, BLK had roughly $2.6 million in volume, more than 3,500 holders and a supply of about 395 tokens worth around $1.3 million. Raydium crossed $6 billion in cumulative tokenized-stock volume on the same day. Backpack launched its brokerage and tokenization business in June 2026 and had listed roughly 200 tokenized stocks by September, including SpaceX as its first offering. It reported more than $4.9 billion in Solana tokenized-stock trading during the first half of 2026, while Backpack-issued tokens held 73% of decentralized-exchange market share for tokenized equities in one measured week. The company’s broader objective, described by CEO Armani Ferrante, is to connect traditional brokerage functions with decentralized finance through a single API and eventually support 10,000 symbols. Investors still face questions over how dividends and corporate actions will flow through the tokens, as well as whether off-hours liquidity will match regular exchange trading.
