Chainlink built a system for Swift’s 2026 Business Challenge that automates cash-dividend processing for tokenized equities across four blockchains, from the initial corporate-action message through payment and final reconciliation without manual intervention. The system uses the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE), a platform for coordinating blockchain workflows, while preserving Swift’s existing ISO 20022 messaging standard. It is designed to address the operational complexity created when identical tokenized shares exist on multiple networks. The system aggregates ownership positions into one canonical record, prevents cross-chain double counting, and calculates each investor’s entitlement. Chainlink’s Automated Compliance Engine checks identity, sanctions, tax and eligibility requirements before payments are calculated. On the payment date, distributions can be delivered as stablecoins (digital tokens designed to maintain stable value) or tokenized deposits on the network hosting an investor’s wallet, with CCIP moving settlement assets to another blockchain when required. Chainlink says the same framework could support interest payments, redemptions, rights issues, stock splits and proxy record dates, with settlement through stablecoins, tokenized deposits or CBDCs. The project expands the Swift partnership beyond messaging toward infrastructure intended to make tokenized stocks function more like conventional securities. Chainlink has also worked on tokenized funds, while earlier Swift experiments used Chainlink infrastructure to link conventional financial messaging with multiple blockchain networks.
