AbbVie will participate in a US government pilot beginning January 1, 2027, to test a new rebate system under the 340B program, which helps hospitals and clinics serving low-income patients purchase medicines at discounts. Eligible healthcare providers will submit claims through Beacon, a platform that will provide 340B pricing for AbbVie’s cancer drug Imbruvica, irritable bowel syndrome treatment Linzess and antipsychotic drug Vraylar. AbbVie said healthcare groups will receive free system access, customer service and additional assistance if operational problems arise. The company said the test is intended to improve pricing transparency and prevent duplicate discounts as new Medicare-negotiated drug prices take effect. AbbVie plans to work with federal health regulators and healthcare providers during the rollout. Amgen, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Bristol Myers Squibb are among the other companies approved for the pilot.
