On October 2, 2026, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission took two separate crypto-market actions: it cleared Cboe BZX to list six triple-leveraged VS Trust exchange-traded products, including the first U.S.-approved 3x Bitcoin and 3x Ether ETPs, and made effective an Investors Exchange rule allowing generic options listings on trusts holding one or more crypto assets. The Cboe products target three times the daily performance of Bitcoin, Ether, gold, silver, crude oil and natural gas before fees and expenses, but still require Securities Act registration and have no announced launch date. The IEX standard requires each underlying asset to average at least $700 million in daily market value over 12 months and to underlie a qualifying derivatives contract, while aligning IEX position and exercise limits for BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, or IBIT, with other exchanges. IEX Options was scheduled to begin trading the same day, and the rule remains open for public comment for 21 days after Federal Register publication.
