Semiconductor materials, parts and equipment ETFs dominated South Korea's monthly performance rankings, even as investors directed domestic ETF inflows toward overseas equities and ultra-short-term safe assets. DS Asset Management's DS KOSDAQ Active led all non-leveraged and non-inverse funds with a 32.36% return, while seven of the 10 top-performing ETFs were linked to semiconductor suppliers and all 10 gained between 26% and 32%. The KOSDAQ index rose 11.11% to 893.29 from 803.98, as supplier stocks benefited from recovering factory utilization and clearer supply-chain advantages while large-cap chipmakers faced earnings-peak concerns and continued foreign selling. Rising capital-spending forecasts at Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, along with fab expansion, HBM and advanced-packaging demand, support a structural growth outlook through 2028. Third-quarter earnings will test whether orders convert into sales and whether sidelined cash returns to Korean equities.
