Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson challenged CoinMarketCap's record of Midnight's NIGHT token reaching a $1.81 all-time high during its December 2025 launch, saying the figure came from initial price discovery rather than normal market trading and that no one bought at that level. CoinMarketCap lists $1.81 as NIGHT's ATH, while CoinGecko recorded a much lower peak of $0.1185 as of Oct. 3, 2026, at 5:28 p.m. UTC. The discrepancy changes the apparent scale of NIGHT's decline: a price near $0.05 represents a fall of more than 89% from $1.81, but about 47.8% from $0.1185. NIGHT recently recovered from late-September lows, rising more than 123% to about $0.040, then moving above $0.05 and reaching $0.05257 before retreating toward $0.05. The move coincided with Midnight enabling permissionless smart-contract deployment on its mainnet on Oct. 2, although the available information does not establish that the network update caused the price increase. Midnight also said GeroWallet added support for its decentralized applications, Google Cloud provided a Midnight testnet faucet, Noctis Zone launched on Preprod and Ura Finance was testing DUST sponsorship for applications.
