DogeOS has launched a public testnet for Ethereum-style trading, lending and other applications using DOGE, extending Dogecoin utility beyond payments and price speculation without changing its base layer. Founded by the team behind the MyDoge wallet, DogeOS describes itself as Dogecoin’s app layer and provides an EVM-compatible environment where developers can use familiar Ethereum tools, bridge test DOGE and deploy smart contracts. Dogecoin Foundation director Timothy Stebbing said the launch has been followed by a surge of projects building on the Doge/EVM chain. Metallicus has also launched DogecoinVM, a DOGE-compatible ledger on the Metal Blockchain that bridges Dogecoin to the Metal network and is described as delivering 300-times faster performance with instant finality. DOGE remains below the closely watched $0.10 level, recently trading near $0.093, while its 50-day and 200-day moving averages are converging toward a possible first daily golden cross of 2026. Dogecoin last recorded a golden cross in August 2025 before reaching $0.30 in September. The latest decline came as a weaker-than-expected September jobs report reduced expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike in October, though investors continue to price in a possible December increase.
