Ethereum’s validator exit queue was reported to have risen 392% in early October, with prior coverage putting the backlog near 850,736 ETH by October 2 and estimated exit waits at about 14.77 days. The increase followed MetaMask Staking’s disclosure of an infrastructure security incident and precautionary validator exits involving nearly 17,000 validators holding about 523,000 ETH, including validators associated with Lido operations. However, subsequent reporting said neither the 392% increase nor the potential 523,000 ETH addition had been independently confirmed through named primary sources, beacon-chain records or official disclosures. MetaMask and ConsenSys said wallets and customer funds were unaffected, while Lido and Linea confirmed precautionary validator actions. The queue reflects pending validator exits rather than completed withdrawals or a disruption to Ethereum’s normal network operations.
