Ripple is preparing the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for broader institutional and developer adoption through confidential transfers, transaction batching, formal verification and infrastructure for AI agents. Confidential transfers using zero-knowledge proofs are designed to let institutions keep sensitive transaction details private while proving validity to the network and relevant regulators. Ripple is also testing adversarial conditions and formal verification to support more complex financial operations, while batching would bundle multiple transactions or operations into all-or-nothing executions. AI-related activity on XRPL has surpassed 11 million transactions, and Ripple’s Senior Director of Engineering, Ayo Akinyele, said the company is building infrastructure for autonomous agents, including verifiable identities, permissions, spending controls and secure smart wallets for XRP and stablecoins. The ledger’s three- to five-second settlement time is being positioned for machine-to-machine payments. Separately, tracked x402 payments reached 11,965,947 by Oct. 3, with purchases expanding from data and AI inference into financial data, risk and credit. A working paper from the Bank of International Settlements also examined XRPL for on-chain verification of official statistics and data integrity.
