President Trump’s MAGA Inc. super PAC and affiliated groups have deployed tens of millions of dollars in competitive Senate and House races one month before Election Day, as Republicans seek to retain control of Congress. MAGA Inc. has focused heavily on the Texas Senate contest, reporting $25 million in spending, while No Going Back PAC has invested nearly $23 million in Ohio and $17.5 million in Michigan. The groups have also spent or reserved millions in races across North Carolina, New Hampshire, Georgia, Alaska, Florida, New York, Maine, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Arizona. MAGA Inc. held $415 million as of late August, and President Trump has pledged to spend $400 million to $500 million in the midterms. Republicans held a nearly $190 million overall spending advantage over Democrats at this point in the cycle, according to AdImpact, although competitive Democratic candidates have outraised their Republican opponents in some races. Republican operatives said cost-of-living concerns, rather than insufficient campaign spending, could determine the party’s performance, while spending in traditionally Republican districts may force the GOP to choose between defending its existing map and expanding it.
