Tempo’s aggregate stablecoin market capitalization rose by approximately $450 million, or 161%, in one week to around $729 million, driven by Open USD, or OUSD. The stablecoin launched on Tempo on September 30, 2026, and has reached an estimated $471.72 million on the chain, representing roughly 64.7% of its stablecoin market. OUSD’s broader market capitalization was previously reported at $666.3 million across Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo, with $2.6 billion in transfer volume and 554 holders. OUSD was designed for institutional use, with reserves held at BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY Mellon. It charges no minting or redemption fees, has no volume caps and launched with more than $400 million in liquidity. Coinbase, Stripe and Visa support access to the token, while Mastercard is expected to follow, although earlier project information described Mastercard as a founding partner. Tempo’s mainnet launched on March 18, 2026, after a $500 million Series A round at a $5 billion valuation. The Ethereum-based chain is optimized for enterprise stablecoin payments, charges average transaction fees below $0.001 and uses supported stablecoins rather than a native token to pay fees.
