Bitcoin’s largest identified short-liquidation cluster was near $90,000 on Oct. 4, 2026, placing it only a few percentage points above the $85,000-to-$86,000 trading range, Glassnode said. The on-chain analytics firm estimated that liquidations approaching that level could total hundreds of millions of dollars across trading platforms, though estimates vary by source. A rise into the zone could force leveraged short sellers to buy back Bitcoin, potentially intensifying upward momentum through a short squeeze. Glassnode also identified smaller liquidation clusters near $83,000 and $75,000. A dense short-position band between $82,000 and $86,000 was largely cleared during August and September rallies, including a major liquidation event on Aug. 19. Liquidation heatmaps show estimated exposure on major centralized exchanges rather than a price forecast, and exclude some perpetual futures platforms.
