Hyperion DeFi, the first publicly listed U.S. company building on the Hyperliquid blockchain, repurchased 240,124 HYPD shares at a weighted average price of $3.21 each and retired roughly $8.6 million in legacy debt. The debt repayment, funded partly through HYPE token sales, settled all outstanding principal and interest owed under the company’s loan agreement with Avenue Capital, leaving no long-term debt. As of September 30, Hyperion DeFi held about $14.5 million in cash, cash equivalents and stablecoins, 1.85 million HYPE tokens and roughly 15.44 million HYPD shares outstanding. HYPE is Hyperliquid’s native token, while the network operates a high-frequency trading layer-one blockchain and HyperEVM, a smart-contract platform for permissionless DeFi applications. Chief Executive Officer Hyunsu Jung said September included raised guidance, the beginning of share buybacks, the debt repayment and new business announcements as the company transitions from its former biotech brand, Eyenovia. Hyperion DeFi plans to expand its onchain DeFi businesses and optimize its capital structure, although those plans remain subject to market and regulatory risks and no timetable was set for further buybacks.
