Peter Schiff warned that Bitcoin’s resilience could make a later decline more damaging for Strategy, arguing the company can no longer rely on STRC sales to raise money for additional purchases. Bitcoin was around $84,500 when Schiff recorded his latest show and later reached about $86,000, while Strategy’s STRC recovered to approximately $99.40 after falling to $75 during the summer. Schiff attributed the rebound to Strategy’s repurchases of STRC, Bitcoin’s move above $80,000, improved confidence and possible short covering. Strategy’s latest figures show 848,000 BTC, or just over 4% of total supply, along with $4.8 billion in USD reserves and $833 million in cash. Its STRC position has an $8.93 billion notional value, a 12% variable dividend and a 12.07% effective yield. Despite Schiff’s financing concerns, Strategy acquired 334 BTC for about $28.7 million and repurchased another $176 million of STRC. The purchases followed a late-September acquisition of 1,665 BTC for about $142.8 million alongside $152 million of STRC, while the company had previously raised nearly $2 billion through STRC issuance in May. Schiff also linked Bitcoin’s risk to broader market conditions, citing softer PCE inflation data, weaker-than-expected employment figures, lower expectations of an October interest-rate hike, falling bond prices and oil near $91 a barrel after a G7 promise to release 100 million barrels from strategic reserves. He said Bitcoin could reverse if technology stocks retreat, arguing that markets have treated resilience as evidence that deteriorating economic signals no longer matter.
