Sixty-four percent of millennial cryptocurrency holders plan to make additional purchases over the next year, according to Charles Schwab's 2026 Modern Wealth Survey. Cryptocurrency ranked first among the asset classes millennials most wanted to invest in, followed by ETFs, stocks, bonds and mutual funds. The survey found that 33% of Millennials currently hold cryptocurrency, compared with 22% of Gen Z respondents and 8% of Baby Boomers. More broadly, six in 10 current cryptocurrency investors planned to increase their holdings over the next 12 months, ahead of ETFs at 56%, stocks at 52%, bonds at 42% and mutual funds at 41%. One in five Americans currently owns cryptocurrency, another one in five is interested in buying it, and nearly half of investors own crypto. The online survey was conducted by Logica Research from Aug. 24 to Sept. 17, 2026, among 2,000 Americans ages 21 to 75. Charles Schwab has begun a phased rollout of Schwab Crypto to retail clients and also offers crypto-linked exchange-traded funds, bitcoin futures and the Schwab Crypto Thematic Index ETF.
