VerifiedX brings tokenized Bitcoin vBTC to EDX for institutional spot trading

  • VerifiedX and EDX Markets will offer institutional spot trading in vBTC.
  • EDX will validate transactions and participate in VerifiedX network governance.
  • VerifiedX raised $15 million in September 2026 and has custody arrangements with BitGo.

VerifiedX and EDX Markets announced a partnership on Oct. 8, 2026, to offer institutional spot trading in Verified Bitcoin, or vBTC, on EDX's U.S. platform. vBTC is a programmable, one-to-one Bitcoin-backed asset issued through VerifiedX's layer-two protocol, with on-chain verification and a redemption route to native Bitcoin. EDX will also operate as a validator on the VerifiedX network, taking part in transaction validation and governance alongside its role as a trading venue. The arrangement is designed to support price discovery, liquidity provision, treasury management, lending, payments and other uses of Bitcoin-backed capital. EDX, founded in 2022 and backed by Citadel Securities, Virtu Financial and Fidelity Digital Assets, provides centralized clearing and non-custodial settlement for institutional clients. The agreement follows VerifiedX's $15 million financing round in September 2026 and adds EDX to its custody relationship with BitGo.
