Ledger is investigating reported cryptocurrency thefts involving hardware wallets sold by CryptoBilis, also spelled CryptoBillis, a Malaysian online store that said it became an authorized Ledger reseller in 2021. Lookonchain reported that one holder lost all 80 BTC, acquired for $5.2 million, after transferring the coins to a reseller-bought Ledger wallet. Blockchain investigator Specter identified suspected theft addresses receiving deposits from hundreds of Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tron wallets totaling more than $86 million, while Galaxy research tracked 213.42 BTC worth $17.7 million. Ledger has not confirmed the full losses, a connection among the cases, the attack method or reseller involvement. It told CryptoBilis to stop selling and shipping its products and advised customers who bought devices there within 90 days not to initialize them. Ledger said there was no evidence its systems or wallet software had been breached.
