Liquid users remained unable to redeem L-BTC for Bitcoin on Oct. 11, 35 days after an exploit enabled unauthorized issuance and redemption and drained the network’s reserves. An Oct. 11 snapshot from Mempool’s Liquid explorer showed 3,632.23 BTC in federation reserves against 4,234.76 L-BTC outstanding, covering about 85.8% of the tokens and leaving a gap of approximately 602.53 BTC. White-hat attackers previously returned approximately 3,400 BTC after nearly 4,000 BTC left the reserve on Sept. 6, 2026, while Blockstream rejected a 10% bounty demand tied to the remaining funds. Liquid resumed block production, internal L-BTC transfers and user transactions on Sept. 10, but peg-outs remain suspended until full one-for-one backing, software updates, testing and independent security reviews are complete. Liquid’s recovery plan provides no firm reopening date or commitment to fund the reserve gap.
