Kroger plans to cut roughly 3,000 corporate roles over the next three years, affecting about 37% of its 8,200 corporate employees, as it integrates artificial intelligence into workflows. Chief Executive Officer Greg Foran said the reductions are intended to eliminate duplicative work, support lower prices and increase investment in in-store employees. The plan follows about 1,000 corporate job cuts in June 2025 and comes after Kroger lowered its annual identical-sales target amid competition from Walmart and Aldi. Kroger detailed AI initiatives in September, including workflow-management models and customer-data tools such as an AI shopping assistant.
