Anthropic plans to disclose quarterly financial results to potential investors for the first time at an institutional investor briefing at its San Francisco headquarters on Oct. 14, as the company prepares for a possible initial public offering. The company confidentially submitted a draft IPO registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in June and could go public as early as next month, with market-discussed valuation estimates ranging from $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion. The potential listing is also drawing compliance scrutiny around Situational Awareness, the hedge fund founded by former OpenAI employee Leopold Aschenbrenner. The fund owns a private Anthropic stake, while Aschenbrenner’s wife, Avital Balwit, is chief of staff to Anthropic founder Dario Amodei. Compliance experts said the relationship could create material non-public information risks once Anthropic shares trade publicly and recommended disclosures, pre-clearance of trades, public-information attestations and possible blackout periods around earnings. Situational Awareness has added compliance staff and now has three employees focused on the function. The fund previously grew to roughly $45 billion in assets and gained more than 400% in the first half of the year before leverage-driven losses in July forced it to sell much of its public portfolio to Citadel at a discount. Anthropic’s specific investor-day metrics, IPO price, share count and listing date remain unconfirmed.
