Singapore’s economy grew 5.4% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026, exceeding economists’ 5% forecast but slowing from an upwardly revised 6.2% expansion in the second quarter. Seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter GDP growth eased to 1.1% from 1.5%, below the 1.2% consensus forecast. Manufacturing expanded 7.5% year-on-year, supported by electronics, precision engineering, transport engineering and general manufacturing, though it contracted 0.9% from the prior quarter after a 6.3% expansion. Construction accelerated and services growth held steady, led by trade, transport and storage. Singapore kept its full-year growth forecast at 4.5%-5.5% after two upgrades in 2026, as artificial intelligence-related industries and exports supported a stronger first half. The Monetary Authority of Singapore left monetary policy unchanged after tightening in April and July, while the Singapore dollar was little changed and the FTSE Straits Times Singapore index rose 0.3%.
