Visa partners with Mesh to enable crypto spending across its merchant network

  • Visa and Mesh partnered on a service for direct crypto payments from digital wallets.
  • Visa’s network includes more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories.
  • Mesh will convert cryptocurrencies and stablecoins into fiat and handle KYC procedures.

Visa and crypto payments network Mesh have partnered on a planned service that would let consumers pay for purchases directly from participating digital wallets holding cryptocurrencies or stablecoins. The service is intended for online and offline payments at Visa’s network of more than 175 million merchant locations across more than 200 countries and territories, without separate bank transfers or crypto-linked card issuance. Merchants would continue using Visa’s existing payment network. Mesh will convert supported digital assets into fiat currency, handle transaction funding and provide customer onboarding and know-your-customer (KYC) procedures. The companies have not finalized supported wallets, devices or country-by-country rollout timing. Mesh previously integrated with Bybit Pay in September to enable payments from exchange-account balances. In January, it raised $75 million in a funding round led by Dragonfly at a $1 billion valuation.
