Kalshi, Polymarket and their founders have contributed at least $5 million combined to Republican and Democratic political groups this election cycle, according to campaign finance records and a private remittance document reviewed by Reuters. The spending includes a previously unreported $1 million transfer by Polymarket operator Blockratize Inc to House Majority Forward, a Democratic nonprofit that does not disclose its donors. Republicans received $2.7 million, while Democrats received the remainder, and just over one-third of the total went to state-level groups supporting candidates for governor, attorney general and state legislatures. The spending marks the companies’ first significant political-giving effort and comes as they challenge state attempts to classify their wagers as gambling while facing federal scrutiny over possible insider trading and national-security risks. Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan and the company directed about $1.3 million to Republican committees and candidates while continuing to support Democrats. Kalshi founders Luana Lopes Lara and Tarek Mansour had given at least $1 million by early October, with about 72% going to Republican causes and candidates. Kalshi donated nearly $1.5 million to state-level groups, split roughly evenly between the parties, while Polymarket gave nearly $250,000 to three such groups. Kalshi said its complete disclosures would show an approximately even party split by Election Day.
