US producer prices for semiconductor and electronic component manufacturing rose 26% year over year in September, the fourth-largest increase on record and the sixth consecutive month with gains of at least 25%. Since July 2025, the index has climbed 31%, reaching its second-highest level since January 2007. Producer prices for electronic components and accessories increased 27% year over year, also extending a six-month streak of gains of 25% or more. The Kobeissi Letter said semiconductor producer prices had declined annually from 1994 through 2021, with the latest sustained surge attributed to an unprecedented wave of tech inflation linked to the artificial intelligence revolution.
