South Korea’s leading IT service companies continued to expand in the third quarter as demand for artificial intelligence and cloud services increased, but profitability diverged. LG CNS Co., LG Group’s information technology affiliate, reported operating profit of 138.2 billion won (US$103.2 million), up 15% from a year earlier, while revenue rose 9.3% to 1.6643 trillion won. AI and cloud operations, next-generation financial-system projects and tighter project-profit management supported the result, although net profit fell 21.1% to 83 billion won because of unfavorable exchange rates and was below the 113.3 billion-won average analyst estimate surveyed by Yonhap Infomax. Samsung SDS reported revenue of 3.7725 trillion won, up 11.2%, and operating profit of 241 billion won, up 3.7%. Hyundai AutoEver posted the fastest revenue growth, with sales up 16.2% to 1.2247 trillion won, but operating profit declined 2.6% to 68.9 billion won as vehicle-software growth slowed amid U.S. tariffs and geopolitical risks. LG CNS said agentic AI services and AI infrastructure would remain its main competitiveness pillars and outlined investments in GPUs, physical AI, robotics, enterprise software and overseas infrastructure.
