South Korean beauty company APR reported preliminary third-quarter consolidated revenue of 773.1 billion won ($540 million), up 100.3% from a year earlier and 0.7% from the previous quarter, setting another quarterly record. Operating profit rose 68.9% year on year to 160.6 billion won but fell 15.7% sequentially, ending a seven-quarter streak of quarter-on-quarter growth. The results were below the latest market estimates cited from FnGuide of 786.1 billion won in revenue and 181.4 billion won in operating profit. Cosmetics and beauty products drove the increase, with revenue rising 150.6% to 682.3 billion won, while beauty-device revenue declined 17.9% to 84.6 billion won. Overseas revenue rose 135% to 722.9 billion won, accounting for about 94% of quarterly sales, with North America representing 46% of total revenue and Europe 23%. APR attributed the weaker sequential profit performance to the dollar and euro each falling about 14% against the won during the quarter, as well as the company’s early adoption of IFRS 18, which moved valuation changes on foreign-currency trade receivables into operating profit. The company maintained its annual revenue guidance of 3 trillion won and said it sees a higher likelihood of exceeding that target. APR also plans to launch energy-based medical devices as early as this year, introduce a radiofrequency-based product around the middle of next year, and expand distribution of a skin booster across Latin America, Japan and the Middle East.
