POSCO labor and management reached a tentative 2026 wage agreement on Oct. 30, averting an open-ended third strike planned for Nov. 2. The package includes a 2.6% base-pay increase, a 6 million won lump-sum payment, a special three-step pay-grade advancement, higher holiday bonuses, additional shift-holiday allowances, 20,000 won allowances for resident and maintenance workers, and expanded medical benefits for spouses and children. Earlier details described the 6 million won package as comprising a 3.5 million won target-achievement bonus, 2 million won in settlement and labor-management harmony incentives, and 500,000 won in local gift certificates. The agreement followed four months of negotiations and about 30 working-level and main sessions, including two partial strikes that marked POSCO's first labor action in its 58-year history since its 1968 founding. The union, affiliated with the Federation of Korean Trade Unions' Korean Metal Workers' Federation, will put the tentative agreement to a membership vote, and majority approval would finalize it.
