Kraken resolved a disruption affecting spot and derivatives trading on Oct. 30, with users unable to connect or submit orders through its website, mobile applications, REST, WebSocket and FIX interfaces. The exchange began investigating at 02:42 UTC and confirmed resolution at 03:42 UTC, after a 60-minute incident. Customers also reported withdrawal difficulties and temporary post-only behavior, although Kraken did not confirm a platform-wide restriction or publish details on affected accounts, rejected transactions or customer assets. The outage followed scheduled maintenance on Oct. 29 and coincided with broader market concerns after a Binance security incident. Separate claims of more than $130 million in alleged Kraken exposure to Aave remain unconfirmed, with no established link to the disruption or evidence of a liquidity shortage. Kraken’s DeFi Earn product has ties to lending protocols through Veda vaults on Ink, while Circle reported more than $350 million in cumulative USDC deposits into those vaults since launch; that figure does not represent Kraken’s direct Aave exposure or losses.
