Samsung Display President Lee Chung urged the company to build technology capable of outpacing competitors, strengthen commercialization beyond existing businesses and open new markets as rising semiconductor prices driven by artificial intelligence demand increase uncertainty in downstream markets such as smartphones and laptops. Speaking at the company’s 14th-anniversary ceremony on the 30th, Lee identified 8.6-generation OLED displays, foldables and AI devices as challenging priorities and emphasized customer trust and technology leadership. Samsung Display is resuming its Asan Campus 2 investment in South Chungcheong Province after halting the project in 2021. The company has ordered structural work for a new A7 plant, with construction set to begin early next year and completion targeted for 2028. The investment is intended to support growing demand for OLED panels used in foldable products and IT devices such as laptops and tablets.
