Spotify aims to launch an AI-powered music remix service in the first quarter of 2027, potentially unveiling it around the Grammy Awards in February, the Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the plans. The Swedish audio-streaming company is considering an additional $4 to $5 monthly charge for paying subscribers. Users could create altered versions of existing songs, while royalties would go to original artists and remix plays would count toward the original songs in Spotify’s charts. Spotify has licensing agreements with Universal Music Group, independent label group Merlin and French music company Believe, and remains in negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music. Spotify did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
