The Swiss National Bank reported a profit of CHF 19.1 billion for the third quarter of 2026, bringing its first-nine-month result to CHF 44.2 billion. Gold contributed CHF 7.6 billion during the quarter, while foreign-currency positions added CHF 11.6 billion. For the first nine months, foreign-currency positions produced a net profit of CHF 43.25 billion as the dollar, euro, yen and pound strengthened against the franc, and equity investments generated CHF 23.70 billion in valuation gains. Those gains offset CHF 22.58 billion in losses on interest-bearing securities. Gold holdings recorded a CHF 1.2 billion valuation gain over the nine-month period, while total assets reached CHF 945.83 billion on Sept. 30. The SNB distributed CHF 4 billion to the Swiss Confederation and cantons in the second quarter, and provisions for currency reserves stood at CHF 140.08 billion. The bank said any year-end distribution will depend on its full-year result and applicable distribution rules, while the figures remain unaudited and sensitive to movements in gold, foreign-exchange and capital markets.
