Tokyo Electron reported first-half results for fiscal 2027 on October 30 and issued record-high full-year guidance, citing sustained demand for chipmaking equipment driven by artificial-intelligence investment. The company forecast operating profit to rise 87% to ¥1.17 trillion ($7.41 billion), while Chief Financial Officer Hiroshi Kawamoto said customer interest remained very strong with no current signs of a slowdown. Tokyo Electron also plans to repurchase up to 25 million shares for as much as ¥150 billion (approximately $953.7 million). Its previously disclosed fiscal year ending March 2027 outlook calls for net profit to increase 50.6% to ¥865 billion, alongside higher revenue and profit, even as investors question whether heavy AI infrastructure spending will generate adequate returns.
