Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov called on Turkic states to strengthen trade, transport, energy, digital connectivity and investment ties, saying their geography and resources could expand their role in global commerce and energy security. Speaking at the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara, he highlighted the Middle Corridor and broader links between member countries, arguing that cooperation should extend beyond transit to mutual trade and industrial development. Bayramov said Azerbaijan was helping connect Central Asia and Europe through green-energy and digital projects, and backed the OTS+ format and efforts to secure observer status for the organization at the UN General Assembly. He also urged Armenia to take political and legal steps toward signing a peace treaty, while saying Azerbaijan sought durable peace and a transition from conflict to cooperation. Türkiye assumed the OTS chairmanship from Azerbaijan at the summit. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan separately called for the Turkic world to become a major trade, transport and energy hub, supported stronger ties with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and urged diplomacy over Iran and greater humanitarian action for Gaza.
