Germany's seasonally adjusted number of unemployed people rose by 4,000 to 3.016 million in October, slightly below the 5,000 increase forecast by analysts polled by Reuters. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.4%, its highest level since 2020. On an unadjusted basis, unemployment fell by 40,000 from September to 2.955 million, remaining below 3 million for a second consecutive month. The labour market's autumn recovery remained subdued, with Labour Office head Andrea Nahles saying that economic conditions were still insufficient to improve employment. The Federal Employment Agency registered 654,000 vacancies in October, up 31,000 from a year earlier.
