Italy’s economy was unchanged in the third quarter of 2026 from the previous three months, missing a Reuters survey forecast for 0.1% quarterly growth. GDP rose 0.8% from a year earlier, below the 0.9% estimate from 28 economists. Acquired growth stood at 0.8% at the end of September, meaning annual growth would reach that rate even if output remains flat in the fourth quarter. Giorgia Meloni’s government recently raised its growth forecast to 1% for 2026 and 0.8% for 2027, up from earlier targets of 0.6% for both years. The government forecasts 0.9% growth in 2028, while Italy’s economy expanded 0.6% in 2025.
