HYPE spot trading volume on Binance exceeded $16.2 billion in 24 hours, setting a record against an estimated monthly average of about $3.6 billion. The token rose about 24% from $81 to $97 in a day alongside the volume surge, before recently trading at $90.58, down 0.29%. The move followed plans by TradeXYZ and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent of the New York Stock Exchange, to develop a 24-hour U.S. perpetual futures market based on Hyperliquid, subject to regulatory approval. The proposed markets would cover equities, commodities, foreign exchange and cryptocurrencies. Hyperliquid would provide the underlying technology, while ICE would operate the regulated market and TradeXYZ would design and implement the markets. Stanley Druckenmiller relayed the announcement on X in his first post on the platform. The initiative followed President Donald Trump's Aug. 19 statement that CFTC Chair Mike Selig was working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant and legal manner. Earlier data showed $13.47 billion in futures volume and $4.02 billion in open interest, but the latest activity has shifted attention to HYPE's spot market and the proposed U.S. expansion.
