Chile’s industrial production fell 2.7% year-on-year in September 2026, narrowing from a 5.7% decline in August, as mining output dropped 8.7%. Copper extraction and processing fell 15.1% to 387.87 metric tons, its steepest decline since March 2017, while manufacturing and utilities output increased. On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 2.7%, reversing a 2.2% decline in August. Severe winter weather and port-related interruptions disrupted mining operations, adding to concerns about supply constraints in the global physical copper market.
