Bitcoin fell toward $77,000 as a sell-off in U.S. technology shares and gold pressured risk assets ahead of October’s final trading session. Bitcoin touched $77,646 on Oct. 30 after Binance disclosed a security incident, while Ether slipped to $2,238.76 and BNB traded at $694, down more than 8% over 24 hours. The Nasdaq fell 2.9% on Friday and stood 7.8% below its Oct. 6 record close, while gold dropped below $3,900 an ounce and Brent crude settled at $117.63. Bitcoin is facing a second consecutive October loss after declining 3.95% in October 2025, despite October’s historical reputation for gains. CoinGlass data shows gains in 10 of 13 Octobers from 2013 through 2025, with a median return of 14.6%. Weak U.S. spot demand has remained a headwind, although 10x Research and Galaxy Research head Alex Thorn continue to argue that Bitcoin’s cycle low may already have passed. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF purchases, including $151.5 million for BlackRock’s IBIT and $24.5 million for Fidelity’s FBTC on Oct. 27, provided a counterpoint to the demand weakness.
