Mark Walter and Josh Kushner have agreed on the outstanding terms of Kushner's purchase of the Lakers at an NBA-record $12.5 billion valuation, according to several people familiar with the matter who were not authorized to speak publicly. The agreement has not yet been signed and must be reviewed by the NBA before its Board of Governors votes on the sale. Kushner has assured Walter that he has the funds to complete the transaction, while Bob Iger, Disney's former chief executive, is partnering with him. Walter bought a majority stake in the Lakers from the Buss family in 2025 at a $10 billion valuation and agreed to sell less than a year after officially becoming the team's owner. The transaction comes as Walter faces scrutiny over insurer-related loans involving his holding company, TWG Global, while reports have linked him to the sale of a small Chelsea stake and a possible sale of the WNBA's Sparks. Walter has said he will not sell the Dodgers.
