Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz clarified that the 100 on an XRP-themed T-shirt worn at the Swell event represented the XRP Ledger reaching 100 transactions per second, not a $1 XRP price target. Because XRP rose from about 30 cents when the shirt was commissioned to $1 when it arrived, members of the XRP community adopted the price interpretation. In an X exchange dated October 30, 2026, Schwartz explained that the shirt was made to celebrate the ledger's throughput milestone. The XRP Ledger's reported capacity later rose from 80 TPS during testing in February 2015 to 120-490 TPS between March and June 2015, 525 TPS in October 2015, 1,100 TPS the following year and 1,500 TPS in July 2017, a level the source says remains current.
