LS Electric is positioning an intelligent direct-current grid as the foundation of its next-generation power strategy for meeting rapidly rising electricity demand from artificial intelligence data centers. Chairman Koo Ja-kyun, who leads LS Electric, a unit of LS (006260), outlined the plan in a keynote at the 2026 CIRED Workshop at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul on the 2nd. The event, focused on future standards and the global power industry, was held in Asia for the first time since its founding. Koo called for a two-way energy platform that combines direct current and alternating current with data, artificial intelligence and power equipment. LS Electric is pursuing the strategy commercially in North America, where it has secured orders for ultra-high-efficiency power conversion systems and data-center power solutions. The global power infrastructure market, including distribution equipment such as switchgear and transformers, is expected to exceed $150 billion by 2030.
