Bitcoin rose about 1% to roughly $78,600 in Monday Asian trading, extending gains for a third consecutive day as investors regained appetite for risk after a sharp selloff in U.S. technology shares. Zcash led major cryptocurrencies with a 3% advance to nearly $1,280, while Ether and BNB each gained almost 2% to just above $2,300 and about $713, respectively. XRP and TRX rose about 1%, while Solana was little changed near $95. The move followed a drop to about $77,600 late Sunday and came after Binance disclosed a $6.3 billion hack last week, described as the largest theft from a crypto exchange on record. U.S. equity futures and Asian benchmarks also recovered after the Nasdaq 100 fell 3.5% and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped 7% on Friday. Brent crude declined 3% to about $110 a barrel, while gold rose about 1% to roughly $3,910 an ounce. BTSE chief operating officer Jeff Mei said persistent macroeconomic pressure and high interest rates could weigh on crypto liquidity in coming months, while a rebound in technology stocks could offer a potential Bitcoin buying opportunity below $80,000. Markets are also watching U.S. midterm election results and the CLARITY Act, which would establish a framework for U.S. crypto-market oversight.
