S-OIL reported consolidated third-quarter sales of 11.9687 trillion won, operating profit of 1.4067 trillion won and net profit of 1.4356 trillion won. Revenue rose 42.2% from a year earlier, while operating profit increased 513.7% and net profit jumped 2,171.3%. Operating profit exceeded the average market estimate by 6.2%, based on a Yonhap Infomax survey that did not provide an estimate for net income. Higher international oil prices, improved export refining margins and stronger lubricant profitability drove the quarterly gains, while the company maintained stable operations despite Middle East tensions and a stronger Korean won. Refining conditions benefited from low global inventories and seasonal heating-oil demand, while lubricant supply remained constrained by production disruptions and logistics problems. S-OIL swung to a net profit of 2.67 trillion won for January-September, from a 48.13 billion-won loss a year earlier, and posted operating profit of 3.6 trillion won versus a 136.29 billion-won loss. Sales rose 26.7% to 32.25 trillion won. Petrochemicals remained loss-making as excess supply and weak demand hurt polypropylene and propylene oxide. The company expects refining margins to remain high in the fourth quarter and lubricant supply to stay tight. Trial operations are under way at its 9.26 trillion-won Shaheen petrochemical complex in Ulsan, with production of ethylene, propylene and butadiene targeted for early 2027. Saudi Arabia's state-owned Aramco holds a 63.4% stake in S-Oil.
