Mercado Bitcoin suspended cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals after a security breach drained more than $46 million from exchange-linked wallets on Monday. The Brazilian exchange said customers suffered no losses and no data was leaked. Investigators traced transfers across multiple networks, while Tether and Circle had frozen approximately $6.2 million by 16:42 UTC. Onchain Lens separately reported that about $5.55 million tied to the hack had been frozen across three addresses, including USDT, USDC and gold-backed tokens. The two reported freeze figures were not reconciled.
