Solana has operated for 1,000 consecutive days without a network-wide outage, marking a sustained recovery from disruptions that previously halted consensus and block production. The latest project update places the uninterrupted period since February 2023, while the existing record dates the latest full stoppage to Feb. 6, 2024 and the milestone to around Nov. 2, 2026, leaving a discrepancy in the outage history and timing. Earlier incidents included a roughly 17-hour outage in September 2021 after bot-driven Grape Protocol IDO traffic overwhelmed validators, a roughly seven-hour halt in April 2022 following an NFT mint, a 4.5-hour block-production stoppage in June 2022 caused by a durable nonce transaction bug, and a more than six-hour halt in September 2022 after a consensus-layer bug triggered a fork. During the recorded uptime period, average monthly decentralized-exchange volume and total transactions doubled, while active traders increased sixfold from pre-outage levels. Solana has expanded resilience measures including Firedancer, an independent validator client developed by Jump Crypto, stake-weighted quality of service, QUIC networking, improved deduplication and anti-spam systems, a local fee market, scheduling changes and a priority-fee market. A 2024 halt lasted about five hours after validator software entered an infinite recompile loop. Slot time was reduced to 350 milliseconds on Aug. 21, 2026, with plans to move toward 200 milliseconds. A routing failure at a major infrastructure provider in August 2026 temporarily affected validators representing nearly 29% of network stake, but block production continued. Fidelity Center for Applied Technology data showed vote success rates near 99.7% throughout 2026 while highlighting concentration among validator stake and hosting providers.
