Eight players, including Milwaukee Brewers first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers, New York Yankees closer David Bednar and San Diego Padres left-hander Adrian Morejon, received one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offers before Monday's deadline. Players who accept will be signed for 2027 at that amount, while those who decline become free agents and could bring their former clubs draft pick compensation if they sign elsewhere. The deadline is Nov. 17. The other recipients were Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki, Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Brandon Lowe, Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers and Baltimore Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers. Bauers posted a .266 average with 26 home runs and 86 RBIs for the World Series-champion Brewers and was named National League Championship Series MVP after Milwaukee swept the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bednar recorded 35 saves with a 2.47 ERA for the Yankees, while Morejon went 9-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 107 strikeouts. According to MLB.com, only 18 players have accepted a qualifying offer since the system began in 2012. Players who did not receive offers included Jazz Chisholm, J.P. Crawford, Ty France, Ian Happ, Matthew Boyd, Brady Singer and Michael Soroka.
