Samsung Biologics has signed a 434.3 billion won ($324.8 million) contract to manufacture biopharmaceuticals for an undisclosed global drugmaker. The contract manufacturing organization (CMO, a company producing drugs for another pharmaceutical company) agreement runs through Dec. 31, 2031, according to a regulatory filing on Nov. 3. The client and product were not disclosed because of confidentiality provisions. The deal lifts Samsung Biologics' cumulative orders since founding to $22.3 billion and marks its ninth disclosed contract this year. The company said the long-term production commitment strengthens its medium- to long-term revenue base and provides greater management stability by securing capacity into the early 2030s. Samsung Biologics serves clients including most of the world's 20 largest drugmakers and is seeking both new customers and broader contracts with existing clients as biopharmaceutical demand rises and supply chains diversify. Its three-pillar expansion strategy targets production capacity, business portfolio and geographic footprint, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs, medicines linking antibodies with cancer-killing drugs) and peptides. Samsung Biologics opened a European sales office in the Netherlands in August, adding to sales bases in the U.S. and Japan. It also signed a 93.5 billion won contract with a European drugmaker on Oct. 2, running through the end of 2031, and a 350.8 billion won CMO contract with another European drugmaker in September, running through the end of 2033.
