President Lee Jae Myung called on the government to communicate objective real estate data more effectively and ensure the market responds to accurate information. At a Cabinet meeting at Cheong Wa Dae on the 3rd, he said Seoul apartment listings are increasing rapidly while transaction volumes are falling sharply, with actual transaction prices in key areas also declining. Lee described South Korean housing prices as abnormally high and said the country must shed its reputation as a speculative real estate republic. He said discussions were emerging about the capital region’s housing outlook, warned that beneficiaries of rising prices may selectively use statistics to promote a one-sided narrative, and stressed that stabilizing property prices is the most desirable outcome.
