China’s central bank and the Central Bank of Oman signed a five-year bilateral currency swap facility worth 30 billion yuan, approximately $4.5 billion, or 1.5 billion Omani rials. The agreement was accompanied by a memorandum on central bank digital currencies and cross-border payment cooperation, extending China’s network of Gulf financial arrangements. The documents were signed by Governor of the People’s Bank of China Pan Gongsheng and Governor of the Central Bank of Oman Ahmed Al Musalmi, with the countries’ leaders witnessing the ceremony. The two sides also discussed broader bilateral economic and financial cooperation. The People’s Bank of China said the arrangements are intended to deepen monetary and financial ties, improve cross-border digital-payment convenience and support financial-market stability.
