CME Group’s crypto weekend trading reached $1.3 billion in notional volume in October 2026, while average daily weekend volume rose 55% from September to a record $340 million. The figures came six months after CME introduced round-the-clock trading for crypto futures and options in May 2026, giving institutional clients a regulated venue to manage exposure when crypto markets move outside traditional market hours. Weekend activity remained a small share of CME’s broader crypto business, with average daily crypto volume at 145,000 contracts and $7.85 billion in notional value. CME recorded 30 million contracts in average daily volume across all asset classes in October, up 15% from the previous October record of 26.3 million contracts. Interest rate products led with 14.8 million contracts, followed by equity indexes at 8.8 million. U.S. Treasury futures and options averaged 9.2 million contracts, up 48%, while international ADV rose 9% to 9 million contracts and BrokerTec average daily notional value increased 18% to $1.127 trillion.
